VidMage Review 2026: Face Swap, 28 AI Models and What It Costs

Face swap plus 28 AI video and image models on one plan.

8.7
8.7Our score

Almost everyone hesitates before uploading their own face to a website. That hesitation is the real barrier with face swap tools, and it is a sensible one. You are handing a stranger the most identifiable thing you own, usually with no idea where it goes afterwards.

VidMage answers that question more directly than its competitors do, which is a large part of why it scores 8.7 here. It has also quietly become something much bigger than a face swap site. This review covers what happens to your files, what every plan really costs and the 28 models you get access to. It also covers three claims on its own pages that do not survive a calculator.

The Short Version

If you read one section, read this one.

  • Buy it if you want face swap plus a full video and image toolkit without paying for four subscriptions.
  • Buy it if the privacy question is what has stopped you so far. VidMage states that uploads are deleted automatically and never used for model training.
  • Check the terms first if this is client work. Commercial rights are not addressed anywhere on the pricing page.
  • Yearly is the only sensible plan. It is 44% cheaper per month, though not by as much as VidMage claims.

What Happens to Your Photos?

Dealing with the objection first, because it is the one that matters.

The Retention Policy

VidMage's privacy policy states that files uploaded to its web services are automatically deleted from its servers within 2 hours. It also states that user data, including uploaded photos and videos, is not used for AI model training.

Both of those are meaningful. Plenty of free face swap sites say nothing at all about retention, and a few reserve broad rights to reuse whatever you upload. A stated deletion window and an explicit no-training line are the two commitments worth looking for, and VidMage makes both.

One honest caveat, and we checked this carefully. Section 6.1 of the policy says 2 hours, while section 6.2 refers to a 24 hour deletion window. Those two sections contradict each other. Either figure is reasonable, and a privacy policy that disagrees with itself is still a drafting problem on the one page where precision matters most.

The Mac App Keeps Files Local

For anyone genuinely uneasy about uploading, the desktop route is better. VidMage's policy says files processed through its client-side apps stay on your device and are never uploaded to external servers.

That said, section 1 of the same policy notes that material may be sent to a cloud server for effect processing. Read as a whole, local processing looks like the default rather than an absolute guarantee. If your material is genuinely sensitive, use the Mac app and assume some effects still need the cloud.

Who Actually Runs It

VidMage is operated by PROMINENT FORTUNE PTE. LTD., based in Singapore at 71 Ubi Road 1, Oxley Bizhub, and its terms are governed by Singapore law. The privacy policy itself names only "VidMage" rather than the legal entity, which is another small tidy-up they should make.

VidMage Is Not Just a Face Swap Tool Any More

This is the part most write-ups miss entirely, and it is the reason the value is as good as it is.

28 Models on One Subscription

VidMage reports 18 video models and 10 image models available inside the product. The video list includes Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Hailuo and Wan. The image side includes Midjourney, GPT Image, Nano Banana, Seedream and Qwen.

Pause on that list. Several of those models cost more than VidMage's entire subscription if you buy them directly. Paying $8.33 a month for access to a rotating set of frontier models is the single strongest argument here. Same consolidation logic sits behind our InVideo review.

Roughly 47 Tools Around Them

Models alone are not a product. What makes this usable is the tooling wrapped around them, and VidMage lists around 47 separate tools.

  • Video: text to video, image to video, video to video, upscaler, enhancer, extender, watermark remover, background remover, subtitle generator and lip sync.
  • Image: generator, image to image, upscaler, object remover, plus clothes, hairstyle and character style generators.
  • Effects: talking photo, photo dance, video to anime and a cartoon generator.
  • Audio: voice clone, voice design and text to speech.

There is also an API and an MCP integration, both marked beta. MCP matters more than it sounds, because it means you can drive VidMage from an AI assistant rather than clicking through a web interface.

Face Swap Is Still the Thing It Does Best

Its origin story shows. Photo swap, video swap, multi-face swap, head swap and partial feature swaps all work cleanly, and the Mac app adds facial feature swapping separately.

Quality on faces holds up at short lengths, which is what the format is for. Longer clips still drift, as they do everywhere, and our guide on how to make AI videos covers how to work around that.

How Much Does VidMage Cost?

Current published pricing, read from the pricing page on 9 October 2026.

PlanPriceCreditsBest for
Free$0NoneJudging output quality
Monthly$14.99 a month400 a monthA one-off project
Yearly$8.33 a month400 a monthEveryone else

Features are identical on monthly and yearly. The only difference is the price, so paying monthly costs 80% more for exactly the same product.

What the Free Plan Actually Gives You

More than most. Free covers 15 photo face swaps a day, 20 seconds of video face swap a day and 2 GIF swaps a day. Add 5 minutes of live swap and a 15 second preview on each video.

Daily refresh is the part that matters. A one-time trial allowance runs out during the hour you are evaluating. Fifteen swaps every day is enough to test it properly across a week, on your own material, before any money changes hands.

What Credits Cost in Practice

Credits are simple here, which is a relief after the AI video tools where nothing is comparable.

ActionCreditsCost on the yearly plan
Photo face swap1 per pictureAbout 2 cents
Video face swap1 per secondAbout 21 cents for 10 seconds
GIF face swap1 per secondAbout 2 cents a second
Head swap5 per useAbout 10 cents

Your 400 monthly credits therefore cover 400 photo swaps, or about six and a half minutes of video swapping, or 80 head swaps. Top-up packs are available to subscribers at $9.99 for 500 credits, improving to $499.99 for 50,000, and unused credits do not expire while your subscription is active.

Three Claims That Do Not Add Up

We check vendor numbers rather than repeat them, and three here need flagging.

The yearly saving is overstated. VidMage's page says the yearly plan saves $105 against monthly. Twelve months at $14.99 is $179.88, against roughly $99.96 for the year, which is a saving of about $80. That real discount is excellent. It is simply not the one being advertised.

The watermark claim contradicts itself. One section states VidMage is always watermark free, even on the free trial. Its Mac free tier then lists a watermarked live swap. Assume paid removes watermarks everywhere and that the free Mac live feature does not.

Headline stats are self-reported. VidMage states 50 million creators and a 4.9 out of 5 rating. Those are the company's own figures with no third-party source attached, so treat them as marketing rather than evidence.

Where VidMage Falls Short

We are an affiliate here, so this section carries more weight than the praise.

Commercial Rights Are Not Addressed

This is our biggest practical complaint. The pricing page says nothing about whether you may use output commercially. It confirms you must only upload media you own or have permission to use, which is a different question entirely.

If you are producing client work, read the terms of service before you deliver anything. A tool at this price point should answer the question on the page where people decide to pay.

Documentation Contradicts Itself

Three conflicts on three different pages, covering retention, watermarks and model counts, is a pattern rather than a typo. None of them is dangerous. Together they knock trust down to 7.9, because a company's published facts should agree with each other.

Breadth Over Depth

Twenty eight models and 47 tools means nothing here is best in class. For dedicated cinematic generation our Hailuo AI review covers a stronger single model, and for character consistency across shots our Vidu review does the job better. VidMage wins on range and price, not peaks.

Worth a straight answer, since it is the question underneath most hesitation.

Swapping your own face, or a face you have explicit permission to use, is legal in most places and is what these tools are built for. Using someone else's likeness without consent is where it stops being fine, and that applies regardless of what any tool permits technically.

VidMage's own terms require you to upload only media you own or have permission to use, which is the right position. Separately, if you publish to YouTube, it requires disclosure of realistic altered or synthetic content. Several jurisdictions have added laws on non-consensual synthetic imagery, and more are coming.

Short rule: your face, a willing friend's face, or a licensed model is fine. A celebrity, an ex or a colleague is not.

Who Should Use VidMage

Situations where it earns its place.

Subscribe If

  • You make short-form content. Face swap, talking photo and video to anime are built for exactly that.
  • You pay for two or more AI tools. Twenty eight models on one bill is the argument.
  • Privacy was your blocker. Stated auto-deletion and no model training are better than most rivals offer.
  • You want a Mac app. Local processing suits anyone uneasy about uploading faces.
  • You create for a living. Our guide to AI tools for content creators covers what pairs with it.

Look Elsewhere If

  • You need a finished edit. VidMage gives you clips and effects, not an assembled video.
  • You need one category done perfectly. Buy the specialist from our AI video generator rankings.
  • Client licensing must be watertight today. Read the commercial terms first.
  • You only need one swap. Use the free tier and do not subscribe at all.

Final Thoughts

VidMage earns 8.7 because it quietly solved the two things that stop people using face swap tools. It told you what happens to your files, and it stopped being a one-trick site.

At $8.33 a month for 28 models and roughly 47 tools, the value is genuinely hard to argue with. It undercuts most of the specialists we rate higher on raw output. What holds it back is housekeeping rather than product: pages that disagree with each other, and silence on commercial rights.

Spend a week on the free tier first. Fifteen swaps a day on your own photos tells you in minutes what no review can, and the daily refresh means you are not racing a trial clock.

Our recommendation

Test it free, then take the yearly plan

Monthly costs 80% more for an identical product. If a week on the free tier convinces you, there is no reason to pay monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions readers send us most often about VidMage.

Is VidMage free?

Yes, there is a free plan with no card required. It covers 15 photo face swaps a day, 20 seconds of video face swap a day, 2 GIF swaps a day and 5 minutes of live swap. Those allowances refresh daily rather than running out once.

How much does VidMage cost?

Monthly costs $14.99, and the yearly plan works out at $8.33 a month, roughly $99.96 for the year. Both include 400 credits a month and identical features, so monthly billing costs 80% more for the same product.

Is VidMage safe to use?

Its privacy policy states that uploaded files are deleted from its servers automatically and that user photos and videos are not used for AI model training. Note that one section says 2 hours and another says 24, so the policy contradicts itself on timing.

Does VidMage keep my photos?

It states that it does not. Web uploads are deleted automatically, and files processed in the Mac app stay on your device. The policy does add that some material may reach a cloud server for effect processing, so local handling is the default rather than an absolute guarantee.

What AI models does VidMage include?

VidMage reports 18 video models and 10 image models. The video list includes Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Hailuo and Wan. Image models include Midjourney, GPT Image, Nano Banana, Seedream and Qwen.

How many credits does a face swap use?

A photo swap costs 1 credit, video and GIF swaps cost 1 credit per second, and a head swap costs 5. On the yearly plan that is roughly 2 cents a photo and about 21 cents for a 10 second video swap. Unused credits do not expire while you are subscribed.

Does VidMage add a watermark?

Paid plans are watermark free. The pricing page states VidMage is always watermark free, yet also lists a watermarked live swap on the free Mac tier, so expect the free live feature to carry one.

Can I use VidMage videos commercially?

The pricing page does not say, which is a real gap. It only confirms you must own or have permission for anything you upload. Check the terms of service before using output in client work or monetised content.

Using your own face, or one you have explicit permission to use, is legal in most places. Using someone's likeness without consent is not, and several jurisdictions now have specific laws on it. YouTube also requires disclosure when published content is realistic and synthetic.

Affiliate disclosure: we may earn a commission if you subscribe to VidMage through a link on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not shape our scoring. VidMage is marked down here for contradicting itself on retention and watermarks, for an overstated yearly saving, and for not addressing commercial rights, because those are real. Our ratings are set before commission rates are checked. Read our full affiliate disclosure and editorial standards.
