The short version
AI Tool Signal earns commissions when you click certain outbound links and end up paying for a tool. This costs you nothing extra. It is how we fund the testing.
Which links are affiliate links
Any link that goes through /go/[tool-name] is an affiliate link. Examples:
- Every "Try [Tool] Free โ" button on a review page
- Every "Get Premium โ" button
- Pricing table buttons
- Inline links inside review prose
Editorial links, for example, a link to another AI Tool Signal review, or a link to an official documentation page, are not affiliate links.
How commissions work
When you click an affiliate link, the destination site sets a tracking cookie (usually 30-120 days depending on the program). If you sign up for a paid plan within that window, AI Tool Signal receives a percentage of your first payment or a recurring percentage. Commission rates vary by program, typically 20-50%.
What affiliate revenue does not buy
Affiliate status does not influence:
- The score we assign in our review
- Whether the tool appears in pillar pages or "best of" lists
- Where it ranks against competitors
- Whether we publish a negative review
We have published low scores on tools we earn commissions on, and we will continue to do so. See our editorial guidelines.
FTC compliance
We comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides. Every page with affiliate links displays this disclosure or links to it prominently.
Why we use a redirect
We route every affiliate link through /go/[tool-name] so we can update the destination URL (when a program switches networks, or our partner ID changes) without editing every review on the site. This also lets us track click-through rates internally without third-party scripts.
